The Problem
Air Conditioning and Refrigeration compressors are designed to be cooled by the returning refrigerant gas. System conditions such as: malfunctioning TXV’s, clogged driers, improper refrigerant charge, or dirty condensers can cause excessive temperature at the compressor.
The Solution
The oil in the compressor must be kept at a temperature lower than 165 degrees Fahrenheit to provide proper lubrication. Normal operating conditions will keep the crankcase and oil under 130 degrees. If your compressor is too hot, be sure to find and correct the problem.
